The Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering represents everything the woke mob despises about traditional American culture.
For 38 years, the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering has stood as a celebration of the cowboy heritage that has preserved the values that built this great nation – hard work, respect for the land, and the unbreakable bond between man and horse.¹
Now, organizers are doubling down on their mission by expanding the gathering to two Texas cities for 2026.
The Alpine gathering will continue as planned from February 19-21, 2026, while a new simultaneous event launches in Bastrop during the same weekend.²
Gathering Producer Bob Saul and the Board of Directors announced this historic expansion after receiving invitations from several Texas communities eager to host these authentic cultural celebrations.
"Including Bastrop for 2026 is an excellent opportunity to grow our membership and share the unique flavor of the Alpine Gathering with new audiences across the state," Saul explained.³
This isn’t just about poetry and music.
It’s about preserving the values that made America great when cowboys drove 25 million cattle from Texas to northern railheads between the 1860s and 1910s.⁴
These men and women lived by a code that today’s generation desperately needs to rediscover.

Event Co-Chair Kay Nowell understands what’s at stake in preserving this authentic piece of American culture.
"Those who attend these gatherings will enjoy some of the most authentic cowboy performers of poetry, music, and stories in the country," Nowell intimated.⁵
Her husband, Event Co-Chair Gene Nowell, sees the bigger picture beyond entertainment.
"We’re really excited about the prospect of bringing cowboy poetry gatherings to a whole new audience," he added. "It’s definitely an art form worth preserving."⁶
The expansion comes at a time when authentic American traditions are under relentless attack from cultural Marxists who want to replace our heritage with their poisonous ideology.
While Hollywood pushes transgender cowboys and the education establishment teaches children to hate their own history, these gatherings celebrate the real values that built the greatest nation on Earth.
The gatherings embody everything the America First movement represents – self-reliance, respect for tradition, and the courage to stand up for what’s right.
Alpine’s Director of Tourism Chris Ruggia noted that military service members are being housed in the area, creating potential lodging challenges but also highlighting how real patriots support our troops.
"Alpine and surrounding towns are proud to be hosting military service members," Ruggia said, encouraging early lodging plans.⁷
Cowboy culture represents the antithesis of woke degeneracy
The values celebrated at these gatherings couldn’t be more different from the leftist poison infecting our schools and universities.
Cowboy poetry emerged from the campfires of the 1870s cattle drives, when men faced real hardship with dignity and perseverance.⁸
These weren’t privileged college students demanding safe spaces and crying about microaggressions.
They were Americans who understood that freedom isn’t free and that respect must be earned through character and hard work.
Red Steagall, Texas’ Official Cowboy Poet, captured the essence of what makes this culture so powerful in fighting back against woke ideology.
"I appreciate the set of values of the agrarian society, and they continue to this day," Steagall explained. "A set of social rules such as taking your hat off in the presence of a lady, and you honor the man who signs your paycheck. It is called riding for the brand."⁹

The expansion to Bastrop – described as "the most historic small town in Texas" – will feature approximately 32 performers compared to Alpine’s 15, reflecting the limited lodging in the Big Bend region.¹⁰
Both events will offer the full range of authentic cowboy experiences: poetry performances, youth competitions, open mic sessions, and chuckwagon meals that connect attendees to their heritage in ways no classroom ever could.
The Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering follows a simple but profound mission: "To remember, recite, sing, record, publish, and honor stories of the cowboy told in poetry and song by those who have lived that life to those who enjoy and learn from it every day."¹¹
That’s exactly the kind of cultural preservation work that drives the Left absolutely insane.
They can’t stand authentic American traditions that celebrate individual responsibility, respect for authority, and the bond between generations passing down hard-earned wisdom.
While organizers plan the detailed lineup and ticketing for both locations, they’re creating something the woke establishment can never replicate – genuine community built around shared values and mutual respect.
