US Marshals Cornered a Missouri Sex Offender and the Ground Beneath Them Gave Way

Registered sex offenders are supposed to check in with police every year – plenty skip it anyway.

US Marshals showed up in Huntsville, Missouri to make one of them answer for it.

What happened on that back deck sent nine armed federal officers straight through the floor.

Bodycam Captures the Moment the Deck Gives Out

The footage is hard to watch.

A combined task force of US Marshals and Randolph County sheriff's deputies moved onto a second-story deck in Huntsville to serve a warrant on Jacob Munoz, a convicted sex offender accused of skipping his release conditions.

Without warning, the aging, rotted wood gave way beneath them completely.

Nine officers went down together, crashing through splintered boards and falling to the ground below.

Bodycam video shows the deck folding in an instant – one second the team is closing in on a doorway, the next they are in freefall.

TMZ reported five officers were hospitalized with a mix of broken bones, concussions, and torn muscles, and NBC News reported the footage showed officers scrambling to check on each other the moment they hit the ground.

These are men who volunteered to run toward a convicted predator's front door.

The floor under them should never have been the thing that took them down.

A House That Failed the People Sent to Protect Your Kids

Nobody built that deck to hold a nine-man task force in tactical gear.

Convicted sex offenders in Missouri are required to register their address so police know exactly where to find them – that is the entire point of the registry.

Munoz stopped complying with his release conditions, and the Randolph County Sheriff's Office obtained a warrant to make him answer for it.

The building itself is what failed, not the marshals and not the warrant.

Fox News reported the deck itself was described as old and rotted, structurally unfit for the weight it was carrying that day.

Nobody in that video hesitated, backed off, or thought twice about finishing the job once they hit the ground.

The Danger Nobody Talks About When Marshals Serve a Warrant

This is not the first time an aging structure has buckled under a crowd it was never built to hold.

A porch collapsed during a gathering in Boston's Mission Hill neighborhood back in 2013, injuring twelve people and forcing inspectors to check the building for code violations.

A SWAT entry team trains for gunfire, for barricaded suspects, for dogs – not for the floor itself turning into the threat.

That is the blind spot in modern law enforcement that this video just exposed to the entire country.

Every time a marshal steps onto a stranger's porch to serve a warrant, he is trusting a structure built and maintained by the very kind of person police are there to arrest.

Convicted sex offenders are not exactly known for keeping their homes up to code, and Huntsville just proved what happens when that neglect meets a nine-man warrant team.

These marshals climbed back up anyway and finished what they came to do, the same week House Majority Leader Steve Scalise accused Democrats of reviving their "defund the police" push through the DHS funding fight in Washington.

Nine federal officers went through a floor doing something most Americans will never have the guts to do themselves – and they got back up.
