Tom Llamas read a stunning FBI crime statistic Thursday night on NBC.
ABC News aired ninety seconds on White House ballroom marble instead.
One network told America the truth and two never mentioned it at all.
The Numbers NBC Was Alone in Reporting
Llamas delivered the FBI release deep into the August 14 broadcast.
"President Trump also, tonight, touting new crime stats from the FBI," he said.
"The biggest one-year drop in violent crime since the bureau began tracking those stats nearly 100 years ago."
Murder and manslaughter fell more than 18 percent.
Robberies dropped 18.5 percent.
Rape offenses fell 7.6 percent.
Those are FBI numbers, not White House talking points.
CBS Evening News did not mention any of it.
ABC World News Tonight did not mention any of it either.
Two of the three legacy networks let a hundred-year record disappear without a single second of airtime.
ABC Chose Gold Finishes Over the FBI Instead
ABC found time that same week for something else entirely.
Reporter Mary Bruce spent close to ninety seconds describing the new White House ballroom.
She detailed the four hundred million dollar price tag.
She detailed the gold finishes.
She detailed the marble floors.
She covered the appeal to the Supreme Court over pausing construction.
None of that is untrue, and none of that is the point.
The point is priorities.
A crime story with actual FBI data got zero seconds on ABC.
A construction story about gold trim got ninety.
This is not the first time this exact pattern has shown up either.
Back in January, NBC alone aired eight seconds on a separate FBI report showing murder at a historic low, while ABC and CBS ignored that one too.
That makes this the second time in seven months the same two networks buried the same category of good news from the same administration.
A Newsroom Habit Nobody at ABC Wants to Admit
Pattern is the word that matters here.
One buried story is an oversight.
Two buried stories on the identical topic, months apart, is a decision.
Newsrooms decide what leads and what dies in the rundown meeting, and somebody at ABC keeps deciding crime data under Trump does not lead.
Ask any local news director what a hundred-year crime record does to a rundown and they will tell you it leads, full stop.
ABC had a hundred-year record and ran gold trim instead.
Viewers trusted these networks for decades to tell them when violent crime dropped in their own neighborhoods.
Two of them decided that story was not worth ninety seconds this week, even though they clearly had ninety seconds to spare.
Even When CBS Covered It They Refused to Say Why
CBS did eventually put the murder numbers on its website, days after the broadcast silence.
It still could not bring itself to say the obvious.
CBS quoted a Council on Criminal Justice analyst calling the drop "historic and crystal clear."
That same analyst said what caused it is "about as clear as a glass of milk."
Translation: everybody agrees the murder rate is at a two-decade low, and reporters would rather shrug than say why.
RedState laid out the two numbers no network anchor wanted to say out loud.
Criminal illegal alien removals are up sharply under this administration.
Border crossings have collapsed to their lowest levels in years.
Connect those two numbers to a historic murder drop and the "mystery" stops being much of a mystery.
CBS did not connect them on air.
Neither did ABC, and neither did NBC beyond reading the topline number.
A crime drop this large is not a mystery to anyone willing to look at what changed in January.
It is only a mystery to a newsroom that does not want the answer to be Trump.
