Katie Zacharia Lasted Half a Scaramucci After Lawyer Claims but the Media Forgot Which Democrats Flunked the Bar First

Jimmy Kimmel compared Trump's new press secretary to a kindergartner before her first week was even over.

Then Sean Hannity put the bar exam question to Katie Zacharia point blank on Fox News.

Within days the press got exactly what it wanted, and its memory turned conveniently short.

Zacharia Told Hannity She Never Passed the Bar

Hannity skipped the softballs on the October 15 edition of Hannity.

The Wall Street Journal had reported that she did not pass California's bar exam.

Hannity asked whether she graduated from Pepperdine Law School and came up short on the bar.

She confirmed it without blinking.

Then he asked whether she ever went back and took it again.

"I did not, Sean," she told him.

No spin, no lawyered non-answer, no handler jumping in to end the interview.

Zacharia said she took the bar after law school, then moved abroad for a job on a law firm's international team and never tried the exam again.

That explained the half-finished answer about her move abroad that she gave at her first briefing.

Hannity pressed her on a report counting 15 social media posts that labeled her an attorney.

She said those posts were retweets, not a title she was claiming for herself, and that she has since set the record straight.

She also said she asked legal professionals whether the lawyer label fit her, and that she was never paid to give anyone legal advice.

The Left Went Hunting Before She Finished Her First Day

Trump named Zacharia press secretary on October 9 and called her a "devoted fan and member of MAGA!"

She is a mother of four, a Pepperdine Law graduate, and a familiar face to Fox News and Newsmax viewers.

She came to the job from Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social, after serving as a Homeland Security spokesperson and helping Trump's campaigns in the swing states.

Her answer to the pressure of replacing Karoline Leavitt was simple – "Following the fabulous Karoline Leavitt is a high standard, and one worth meeting."

Her first briefing on October 13 ran about 14 minutes.

She took three questions, ran through Trump's wins heading into the midterms, and announced the White House had asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as ambassador to Greece.

That was all the left needed.

Kimmel went after her intelligence on national television.

This is the same Jimmy Kimmel that ABC pulled off the air in September 2025 over his monologue about Charlie Kirk's assassination.

Liberal reporters tore through her résumé looking for a scalp.

Before the week was out, one White House official was already measuring her against Anthony Scaramucci, who lasted 10 days as communications director.

On Hannity, Zacharia said she "did my very best" in a briefing she walked into less than eight hours after starting the job.

Trump Says the Media Brutalized Zacharia On Her Way Out

The pile-on worked.

On October 16, three days after her first briefing, a senior White House official confirmed Zacharia is on her way out of the job.

She never got a second shot at the podium.

Trump took questions about her on the South Lawn and made clear who he blamed – "She's been brutalized by the media."

He also said, "Maybe it's not for her."

Asked whether he fired her, Trump said no and told reporters he wants her to have a good life.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung had been singing her praises only two days earlier.

No successor had been named when the news broke.

Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton Flunked the Bar Too

The outrage crowd skipped right past who else failed a bar exam.

Kamala Harris failed the California bar – the same test that tripped up Zacharia – on her first attempt in July 1989.

She later wrote that her prep for it was the laziest performance of her life.

Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama both failed their first bar exams too.

Democrats never treated any of that as disqualifying – they made Harris vice president and handed her the 2024 nomination.

A law license has never been part of the job description for White House press secretary.

Karoline Leavitt didn't have one.

Jen Psaki didn't have one.

Karine Jean-Pierre didn't have one.

Nobody demanded to see Psaki's bar card while she promised to "circle back" on question after question.

Zacharia Answered the Question Kamala Harris Would Have Dodged

Zacharia sat across from Sean Hannity in primetime, heard the toughest questions of her career, and answered every one of them without a dodge.

Hannity is one of Trump's closest allies in media, and he still made Trump's pick account for every line of her background in front of millions.

The left turned one résumé question into a week-long feeding frenzy, and it got the trophy it was hunting for.

Kamala Harris flunked the bar, ducked unscripted interviews for most of her 2024 campaign, and still got a presidential nomination, while Katie Zacharia owned up to her record on live television and got run out of Washington in a week.
