Clancy Holdout Juror Called Out Fellow Jurors and What He Revealed Is Damning

A Massachusetts jury deadlocked over a mother accused of killing her three children.

One juror refused to budge while eight others voted to acquit on day one.

Now he says those jurors were not deliberating, they were running a campaign.

The Mother Accused of Strangling Her Three Kids Split a Jury Down the Middle

Lindsay Clancy stood trial for murdering her children Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months old.

Her defense did not dispute that she caused their deaths.

Instead her lawyers argued she lacked criminal responsibility, the Massachusetts standard for an insanity defense, because of severe postpartum mental illness.

After nearly 40 hours of deliberation, the jury could not agree.

A judge declared a mistrial on September 4.

That outcome alone tells you how close this case actually was.

It also set up a public fight over what really happened behind closed doors.

One Juror Says His Colleagues Were Running an Activist Campaign, Not a Deliberation

Michael Desronvil, 48, of Bridgewater, was the lone holdout for guilt when deliberations began.

By his account, eight of twelve jurors favored acquittal from day one, two favored guilt, and two were undecided.

He says one more juror sided with him on guilt for most of the process before caving at the last minute.

Speaking publicly for the first time, Desronvil described the pro-acquittal jurors as "activists" who worked daily to wear down the holdouts.

Juror Paula Devlin gave weight to that description herself.

She told Fox News the panel saw "a chance to get a conversation started" about postpartum mental illness.

She said jurors believed this "would be something that could change something to make it better for other women."

Desronvil says he looked at the evidence and concluded Clancy did not meet the legal bar for lack of criminal responsibility.

Twelve people are supposed to render a verdict, not launch a movement.

A Mob and Media Went After the Man Who Would Not Cave

There are surely issues with the prescribing and amount of drugs Clancy was allowed to receive.

Frankly, the case could be seen as an indictment of how horribly broken the medical system has become under Obamacare – a system in which doctors can’t seem to coordinate care and the only answers they often seem willing or able to give come in a pill bottle.

But that’s not why the Left broadly and the media seem to be so in the tank for Clancy to be set free.

They clearly view it as an issue that they think they can leverage for political power by using it to organize and mobilize leftists women.

The playbook is the same as with the spate of police-involved or supposedly racially-motivated shootings of a decade ago – a person who is possibly the perpetrator is turned into a victim based on their minority status, or some other “identity” affiliation.

Now it’s what’s between Clancy’s thighs; back then, it was the color of Michael Brown or Trayvon Martin’s skin.

Which might explain why CBS’ Gayle King couldn’t believe the holdout juror was a black man.

Once Desronvil's identity got out, the media-hyped pile-on began in earnest.

His past, including a 2021 assault charge that was later dismissed, got dragged into public view.

He has described facing threats and being stalked simply for doing the job the court assigned him.

Retired Massachusetts judge Pierre Bergeron warned this is exactly the chilling effect the system cannot survive.

"Jury service can often be traumatic," Bergeron said, adding that "the more the jurors are targeted, the less willing people are going to be to serve as jurors."

An online fundraiser for Desronvil has topped six figures, a sign plenty of ordinary people think he got treated unfairly for the verdict he refused to change.

The Gateway Pundit reported that the man who doxxed him is now demanding commentator Jack Posobiec be arrested simply for sharing that fundraiser link.

Rewarding a juror is not supposed to be part of the process, and neither is punishing one.

A Justice System That Cannot Function If Jurors Get Hunted

Trial by jury only works if regular people can walk into a courtroom, weigh facts, and go home without becoming targets.

Desronvil says he did exactly what he was asked to do.

He looked at the law, applied it to the evidence in front of him, and refused to bend when the room turned against him.

For that, his name got dragged through his personal history and his family got exposed to threats.

Meanwhile, jurors who by their account treated the case as a platform for a cause have faced comparatively little scrutiny over that admission.

A hung jury means Clancy could face a second trial, so this fight over what happened in that room is far from finished.

What is already clear is which juror held the line when it mattered, and what it cost him to do it.

This is not an isolated glitch in one Massachusetts courtroom.

School boards get captured by activists who treat a curriculum vote as a cause to advance rather than a policy to weigh.

HR departments get run by people who see every complaint as an opportunity to make a statement instead of a fact pattern to review.

Juries are supposed to be the one place in the system where twelve ordinary citizens just look at evidence and reach a verdict, insulated from that kind of mission creep.

Paula Devlin's words show that insulation failed here, and Desronvil paid the price for being the one person in the room who noticed.
