The war in Ukraine rages on after Vladimir Putin’s nightmarish invasion.
Everyone is anxious for a relatively peaceful end to the conflict.
But America’s corporate-controlled media is bizarrely invested in one narrative about the war in Ukraine.
The warmongers of both parties clearly want escalation in Ukraine, but the so-called “mainstream” media appear to be invested as well.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has been labeled a traitor for calling for de-escalation in the war.
Russia, after all, has 6,000 nukes and a military budget ten times the size of Ukraine’s.
But “mainstream” outlets like The Atlantic seem heavily invested in the idea that Ukraine is winning the war.
If Ukraine is winning, then the rallying cry should be that they must fight onward and repel the Russians.
While that may be noble, it could be a deadly proposition, especially if it’s not true.
The Atlantic wrote that “talk of stalemate obscures the dynamic quality of war. The more you succeed, the more likely you are to succeed; the more you fail, the more likely you are to continue to fail. There is no publicly available evidence of the Russians being able to regroup and resupply on a large scale; there is plenty of evidence to the contrary. If the Ukrainians continue to win, we might see more visible collapses of Russian units and perhaps mass surrenders and desertions.”
In other words, The Atlantic wants to ratchet up the conflict in order to break Russia.
The Atlantic added that the endgame “should be driven by an understanding that Putin is a very bad man indeed, but not a shy one. When he wants an off-ramp, he will let us know. Until then, the way to end the war with the minimum of human suffering is to pile on.”
Retired Colonel Douglas MacGregor, who is more of a noninterventionist, explained America’s strategy in an interview with Judge Andrew Napolitano.
When asked about Joe Biden’s strategy, MacGregor said, “I think he’s gonna listen to Tony Blinken and Victoria Nuland, who are obviously in charge of policy as far as Ukraine is concerned. And his policy is to make Ukraine suffer as long as possible on the assumption that this hurts Russia and that Russia can be bled white and that ultimately Putin can be made so unpopular that everyone wants to remove him.”
His analysis was the blunt version of The Atlantic’s flowery war propaganda.
MacGregor added, “There’s no evidence for that, by the way. I mean, we’ve had all of these unsubstantiated reports that are all traced back to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense telling us that the Russians are losing, Russian troops are deserting, Russians are being killed in large numbers, everyone wants out, the Russian army is demoralized and so forth and so on. There’s no evidence for that. I haven’t been able to find any.”
The warmongers seem to want an endless war in Ukraine in hopes of regime change in Russia.
That is an incredibly dangerous gamble to play with a nuclear-armed country.
