Charlie Kirk's assassination turned him into the most talked about conservative in America.
Hollywood's newest hit movie just picked a side in how it remembers him.
Even Megyn Kelly could not stay quiet about what the film did to Kirk's defender.
Billy Evans Defended Charlie Kirk and the Film Made Him the Bad Guy
Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim secretly filmed Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes for three years to build "You Can See Everything," an A24 documentary that pulled in seventeen and a half million dollars worldwide in its opening weekend.
The film centers on Holmes and her fiance, Billy Evans, in the months before she reported to federal prison.
Evans comes across as the film's villain almost from the opening scenes.
He demanded a cut of the film's profits before reversing course and taking no money.
He pushed to discuss conjugal visits, his sex life, and his control over Holmes' X account on camera.
He vowed "vengeance" against people he believes wronged Holmes, telling the filmmakers, "I'm going to ruin their lives."
Then the film puts him in a scene defending Charlie Kirk's conservative message against actress Amanda Seyfried's criticism of Kirk.
Seyfried played Holmes in Hulu's "The Dropout," and Evans had already slammed her performance earlier in the documentary.
It is the only real detour into current politics in an otherwise apolitical true crime story.
Megyn Kelly and Blake Neff Say Fielder Picked His Villain on Purpose
Blake Neff, producer of "The Charlie Kirk Show," told NewsNation host Katie Pavlich that Fielder "chose their heroes, they chose their villains."
Megyn Kelly watched the same scene and could not let it go.
She called it "f**king ridiculous" that the person attacking Kirk gets cast as the film's hero while the person defending him becomes the villain.
Kelly said she otherwise enjoyed the movie.
Neff and other conservative media figures see something more calculated than a single awkward edit.
A production embedded with Elizabeth Holmes that long still found room to work in a cheap shot at a murdered conservative activist and TPUSA's founder.
Turning Point USA built Kirk's name into a movement that outlasted him.
A24 built a true crime documentary around that name and used it to make its angriest character look even worse.
Hollywood Already Learned This Lesson Once With Jimmy Kimmel
ABC pulled "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" off the air on September 17, 2025, after Kimmel suggested on air that Charlie Kirk's accused killer was part of the MAGA movement.
Affiliate giants Nexstar and Sinclair told ABC they would preempt the show on their stations unless the network acted, and FCC Chairman Brendan Carr warned Disney, "we can do this the easy way or the hard way."
Nathan Fielder and A24 had that entire controversy to study before they ever sat down to edit "You Can See Everything."
They built the villain-defends-Kirk scene anyway, more than a year after Hollywood already paid a price for getting this exact subject wrong once.
Nathan Fielder Made the Kirk Defender the Villain Without Even Trying
Hollywood did not need a script meeting to decide which side of the Kirk debate gets to look sane on screen.
Billy Evans is a genuinely difficult subject, between the profit demands and the threats against Holmes' critics, and Fielder had plenty of real material to work with.
He chose the Kirk scene anyway, and he chose it in a true story where the facts did not require it.
Megyn Kelly is not a Fielder hater and not a Kirk activist, and she still spotted exactly whose side the camera was on the moment Kirk's name came up.
A seventeen-and-a-half-million-dollar opening weekend did not need the cheap shot to succeed, which is exactly why including it anyway says more about Fielder than it does about Billy Evans.
