Mozenter acknowledged that Margaritaville – the company built around Jimmy Buffett’s island lifestyle brand and of which the trust owns roughly 20% – had paid distributions of approximately $14 million over the prior 18 months.
But when calculating Jane’s future income, he conveniently decided not to include any estimate of future distributions from Margaritaville.
The trust owns a significant stake in an empire that includes resorts, restaurants, casinos, cruises, and merchandise – all built around the "Margaritaville" brand that Jimmy Buffett made famous with his 1977 hit song.
Jimmy Buffett even landed on the Forbes billionaires list for the first time in 2023, holding a 28% stake in Margarita Holdings LLC as its chair.
Yet somehow, Mozenter wants Jane to believe this goldmine won’t generate meaningful income for her future.
